Car crash - child safety article
Did you know that motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of injury and death among children of all ages in the United States? I suspected that they might be high on the list, but I didn’t know they were the #1 cause.

As parents nothing is more important to us than our child’s safety. Even though the idea is simple, understanding the ever-changing rules, is not. Thankfully, there are some excellent resources and organizations that have child safety as a primary mission.

We recently read an article by just that kind of organization: carinsurance.org. In addition to a Car Owner’s blog, the site also has a Car Safety Center with articles and videos to help you make informed, safe choices about cars and child safety.

Because of the importance of child safety, we are providing the article and Infographic below as a PSA. Please feel free to share. ~ Terry

Child Safety & You:
The Case for Car Seats – Never Leave Home Without One

The lifesaving power of seat belts and booster seats is well-proven, but with safety recommendations and regulations changing practically yearly, it can be difficult for parents to keep up.

  • How can parents know when a high-priced booster seat is worth it?
  • When is a rear-facing seat safer than a front-facing seat?
  • Now that we can buy booster seats for kids who weigh up to 90 lbs, does that mean we really need to?

Luckily, consumer safety organizations like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration break down the latest research in child safety and provide extensive guides for parents who need to know more about choosing and using the booster seat that’s right for their child.

In the event of an accident the way you fit and fasten your car seat is more important than how many bells and whistles it came with. Unfortunately, as you’ll see in the graphic below, it turns out that many well-meaning parents or caregivers aren’t actually their child seats properly.
